You know the drill. You find a tour that looks perfect. The itinerary sounds amazing, the photos are gorgeous, and the price seems fair.
Then you try to make it work from the Highlands.
Flights from Inverness. An overnight hotel near the airport. Transfers at the other end. And the holiday itself. All of it has to line up.
It’s like playing Jenga. One piece doesn’t fit and the whole thing comes crashing down, so you start again.
Three evenings later, you’re still at it.
And if something goes wrong while you’re away? You’re on your own.

I’m an independent travel agent, so I’m not tied to one holiday company.
I pull everything together so it all fits and you have one holiday with one contact number if anything goes wrong (with the backup of an office and a full out of hours team)
Who Is Melanie?
Well that’s me and I have spent 38 years taking over 10,500 people on touring holidays and river cruises to 40+ countries all over the world.
In 2020 I set up my own travel website – The Professional Traveller – to share trip reviews and guides from my travels.
In 2023 I trained to become an independent travel agent. I get the best of both worlds – total independence, and access to great deals through Hays (the largest independent travel agency consortium in the UK).
In 2026 I launched Mel’s Travel Club – a twice monthly newsletter with holiday deals that work from Inverness.
